Coach Testimonials:
"I have coached at a couple different places and coaching through CYS here at Fort Rucker has been one of the simplest. There is a lot to begin with but once you're past that it is simple. The simplicity gives you time to focus on the kids and your coaching strategy.
The staff at Youth Sports are there to support you and the kids make it great. You have all levels of players and learn so much; whether you're a first time coach or someone experienced. I'm grateful for this opportunity and the support I have from the staff here!"
Coaching youth sports is important to me and my family. As a mom of 6, I feel coaching and being a participant in my children's lives is essential. I enjoy making an impact on my children and their friends' lives in a meaningful and memorable way. Watching my children learn a new sport brings me joy.
This encourages growth, development, and builds friendships that improve our military community.
Coaching is something I got into after witnessing first hand that there are good and bad coaches. I've picked up some great habits from other coaches that I apply when parenting my own kids. I enjoy seeing the kids excel! It's fulfilling for their peers and parents to witness their hard work pay off. Kids deserve great mentorship, coaching, and parenting.
Joining the Fort Rucker track team has been great for me and my children! Winning may be the goal, but I coach to bring a positive atmosphere and healthy competition to the kids.
Helping Kids is always a rewarding experience, but few people talk about how the coach benefits too. Ten years ago, my career was just getting started and my leadership opportunities (and experience) in the civilian sector were lacking. Coaching gave me the opportunities to develop the leadership skills I knew I would need to progress in my career field.
From the importance of preparation and conflict resolution to learning new ways to motivate and build comradery to get results. The traits of a good leader and good coach significantly overlap. My career has benefitted from my coaching experiences. Deciding to become a volunteer coach ten years ago was one of the best decisions I ever made.
