2026 Domestic Violence Awareness Month

This October, join Army Community Service (ACS) and the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) in taking a stand against domestic violence. Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is a time to unite as a community to support survivors, raise awareness, and promote healthy relationships.

We have a full month of events and activities planned to help educate, engage, and empower our community. We encourage everyone to participate and show their support. Click here for a printable event flyer!

Scheduled Events

DVAM Proclamation & Day of Unity

• Date: Thursday, October 1, 2026

• Time: 9:00 AM - 9:10 AM

• Location: The Landing

• Details: Join us for the official proclamation signing during October's Leadership Information Networking Connection (LINC) meeting to mark the nationally recognized "Day of Unity."

Let's Chalk About DV

• Date: Tuesday, October 20, 2026

• Time: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

• Location: Installation-Wide

• Details: Help raise awareness across Fort Rucker in our annual chalk art event. Decorate the sidewalks outside your home, office, or school with encouraging and supportive messages. The Family Advocacy Program staff and Garrison Command Team will be touring the installation to see the art in action. Winners will be announced on Thursday, October 22nd.

Couples Glow Bowl

• Date: Friday, October 23, 2026

• Time: 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

• Location: The Flightline Bowling Center

• Details: Enjoy a fun night out at our Couples Glow Bowl! This event is limited to 15 couples. Please call or email to register for your spot.

Howl-O-Ween Pup Costume Party

• Date: Saturday, October 31, 2026

• Time: 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM

• Location: Corvias Bark Park

• Details: Pets are family too! Bring your furry friends to our annual Halloween pup costume contest. Dress them up for the "PAWrade" or just come to enjoy the show. We'll have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes, plus a biscuit bar for the pups!

Ongoing Activities (October 1-31)

• Awareness Tables: Stop by our DVAM tables at the PX, Bldg. 5700, the Center Library, and Lyster Army Health Clinic to pick up informational bags (while supplies last).

• Center Library: Receive a special book tote when you check out materials from the library throughout October (while supplies last).

• Commissary Giveaways: Every Friday in October, the Fort Rucker Commissary will be distributing reusable DVAM grocery tote bags (while supplies last).

• On Friday, We Wear Purple! Show your support for survivors and help raise awareness by wearing purple every Friday throughout the month of October.
