Financial Readiness Entitlement to Continuation Pay (CP) Under the Blended Retirement System

Financial Readiness: Understanding Continuation Pay (CP) Under the Blended Retirement System (BRS)

A focused, mid‑career financial readiness class designed to help Soldiers enrolled in the Blended Retirement System understand their eligibility for Continuation Pay—a one‑time bonus offered in exchange for an additional service commitment. This session breaks down what Continuation Pay includes, how to apply, and smart ways to use this opportunity to strengthen long‑term financial security. Participants review annual Army multipliers, service‑obligation requirements, and how to determine whether they are currently within their eligibility window. This class supports confident decision‑making as Soldiers consider their career path and the value of accepting Continuation Pay.

The class is offered the 1st Wednesday of each month at 1400 in Building 5700 Room 350, with additional guidance available through the Financial Readiness Program. This session equips Soldiers to make an informed, confident choice about accepting Continuation Pay and maximizing its impact on their financial future.

If you are a Service Member enrolled in the Blended Retirement System (BRS), you may be entitled to a valuable, one-time, mid-career bonus known as Continuation Pay (CP). This mandatory DoD Financial Literacy Class, offered by Army Community Service (ACS), is designed to provide you with the critical information needed to make an informed decision about this important financial opportunity.

Join our ACS Accredited Financial Counselors as we explore:

  • What Continuation Pay entails and its implications for your career path.

  • The application process and key timelines.

  • Optimal ways to leverage this financial bonus to meet your goals.

  • How to weigh the choice of accepting CP against your service obligation, whether you plan to stay in or transition.

Successfully completing this course fulfills the Financial Readiness Entitlement to Continuation Pay Touchpoint for Soldiers, and a certificate will be uploaded to your Digital Training Management System (DTMS) record.
